Ted Chu has applied systems thinking and analytical rigor throughout a 30-year career as a business economist. He has done economic research in every continent in the diverse field of multilateral investment organization, global industrial corporations, management consulting, think tank, and sovereign wealth funds. He worked at the World Bank twice, first as macroeconomist in EBRD and later as chief economist for IFC. He served as chief economist at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund. Prior to that he was chief economist and director of global industry analysis at General Motors Corporation, where he led the development of the M3 model in collaboration with MI. He was a research scholar at Luohan Academy in China. Earlier in his career he was a management consultant at Arthur D. Little and the silicon valley startup Decision Focus Inc. Ted holds Ph.D. in economics from Georgetown University and B.A. in economic management from Fudan University. He was Professor of Practice at New York University – Abu Dhabi in 2014. His prior academic experience includes adjunct professorship at the University of Michigan, Lawrence Technological University, and Northwood University. He has won many awards for dedicated community service and served as a policy advisor for governments and multinational institutions. Beyond economics, Ted has a deep philosophical passion in the question of how human development can serve as the frontier of cosmic evolution. He founded the CoBe Institute in Michigan in 2007 and published the book Human Purpose and Transhuman Potential in 2014.
