In Memoriam - Andrew P. Sundberg 1941 - 2012

It is with a deep sense of loss that Millennium Institute announces the passing of our former board member, Mr. Andrew P. Sundberg. Andy passed away on August 30, 2012 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Andrew SundbergAndy served on the Board of Trustees of Millennium Institute from September 1986 to June 2012. He contributed immensely to MI, promoting our values, and inspiring us with his deep sense of service and dedication to making the world a better place to live. We will miss his charismatic presence, warmth and wisdom.

Born in New Jersey, Andy lived in several regions of the world, including Japan, Germany, and Switzerland, where he settled in 1968.

Andy was educated at the United States Naval Academy and Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he founded a consulting company, Consultex S.A. and consulted for public and private sector clients worldwide.

Andy also founded American Citizens Abroad (ACA), and devoted much of his work to encouraging the US government to see Americans living abroad as assets and treat them as such. His efforts led to a change in US legislation which made it easier for children born to American citizens living abroad to acquire American nationality.

Andy is survived by his wife, Chantal, two daugthers, and a granddaughter. A memorial service was held at the Lutheran Church in Geneva on September 3, 2012.
